About
Retreat, Yourself
Time, space, focus.
These are the essential tools every writer needs to complete their best work — and the ones most easily siphoned away by the dailiness of life.
Wonderful writing retreats exist, but most are far away, expensive, or built around workshops and critique. Sometimes, though, all you need is to hunker down and be alone with the work.
Retreat, Yourself makes your work the priority. Twice a month, we gather in one of the Bay Area's most beautiful libraries for a free day of focused writing — including one phone-free, pen-on-paper Luddite Hour. You bring the project; the room brings the momentum. We handle the planning so the only thing left to do is show up and focus.
Writing retreats shouldn't be a luxury. Soon, membership options will make them a habit — regular, protected time to retreat into your own work, alongside a community that expects you back.
Lindsay Lackey is the award-winning author of books for middle grade readers, including the Northern California Book Award Winner Farther Than the Moon, and All the Impossible Things, a New York Public Library Best Book selection.
Lindsay knows that writing retreats are vital to her craft. In fact, she gets more words written in one week of a retreat than she does in two months of regular life. That’s why she founded Retreat, Yourself—so she could get more writing done, too.
